What types of lifts are there?

Lifts are devices that we use on a daily basis and that make life much easier. Thanks to them, we can save time and effort when ascending or descending from one floor to another, which is especially relevant when it comes to large buildings. But they are also of enormous value for people with restricted mobility or with temporary or permanent health problems or disabilities. For other functions, there are different types of lifts used not for people, but for goods and vehicles.

What types of lifts are there?

Get to know the types of lifts and their applications

Residential lift

Like the lifts in buildings, their function is the same but, as their name suggests, they are exclusively for use in single-family dwellings. Moreover, they operate at a speed of approximately 0.15 m/s (other lifts, on the other hand, travel at an average speed of 0.6 m/s). They usually transport a single person, at most two people, or one person carrying something or even some kind of object up or down from one floor to another easily. On the other hand, single-person lifts have a rescue system, semi-automatic doors, are easy to operate and are maintained by the company that installed them.

Goods lifts

This type of device is widely used in factories, companies and also in the hospitality industry. They are used to transport different types of goods vertically, although there is also the version of goods and passenger lifts. In the first case, they are exclusively for transporting objects or goods and have defined stop levels.

In the case of the goods and passenger lifts, it has the advantage of its duality, whether it is a traditional forklift as described above, or an accompanied load elevator. This means that, in addition to the load, the operator can also be present. They are characterised by their high load capacity. Depending on the type of forklift required, they can support weights from 100 kg to 10,000 kg, and are easily adaptable to different needs, such as environment, load, shaft, etc.

Service Lifts

There are sectors that require objects and goods to be transported easily and safely, both for the objects themselves and for the people in charge. In contrast to goodslifts, which can handle capacities of more than a thousand kilograms, this type of goodslifts is designed for small loads, of a lower weight. This is why they are so useful in restaurants, libraries, warehouses, offices, hotels, restaurants and other sectors. That's why having an option with ranges from 50 to 500 kg is a great solution.

Commercial lifts

This is the best known and most widely used type of lift. They are highly adaptable for different sectors, such as commercial and service. They can transport a certain number of people, depending on their weight and capacity. This type of device has the advantage of offering multiple options, always in accordance with the sector for which it will be used. For example, you can choose between different types of finishes or the type of cabin configuration, making them customisable devices. In terms of capacity, it can be from 1,000 to 1,600 kg, with a forklift (basically for the health sector), or from 2,000 to 6,000 kg.

Vehicle lifts

Vehicle lifts, little known until a few years ago, have gradually gained popularity and acceptance thanks to their enormous advantages. We live in a world where space is shrinking, especially in cities, so finding solutions for vertical utilisation is a necessity. Vehicle lifts, then, are a great option for vertically transporting both vehicles and their passengers.
